Saving Old Places. A Journey of Discovery.

Founding and Leading

If anyone were to ask how this project got started, I'd point to my passion for transformation. I'm always in the corner of the underdog—rooting for them with the enthusiastic beat of my faithful heart. This organization was founded to help infuse a culture of care for the historic places in our community. Our town has an abundance of beautiful historic homes that are sometimes underappreciated. My board and I have worked diligently, stewarding this cause with remarkable success. Most notably, we've raised nearly $300,000 for our grassroots historic preservation of the Abraham Lincoln historic site, The Ray House.

What a journey it has been! From the initial 501(c)(3) application to developing board documents and regulations, managing finances, marketing, fundraising, donor stewardship, volunteer recruitment, and working with architects, engineers, and contractors—the list goes on and on. It's been an incredible learning experience, and I have loved every minute of it.

After six years at the helm, it is time for me to step down and allow the next generation of historic preservation enthusiasts to take the reins. I'm excited to take everything I've learned on this professional journey and apply it toward the transformative power of the Gospel through evangelization in the Catholic Church.

"Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect." —Romans 12:2
